Common Mistakes While Paddle Boarding
Common mistakes that people make while paddle boarding is when they have the blade facing backwards, it will take an individual forever to paddle. When holding the paddle hands need to be wider than shoulders width apart and don't paddle past your feet. When I first tried paddle boarding, I did not use my legs and I tend to lean forward as oppose to being relaxed. Another mistake I made was looking down instead of looking ahead when paddling. I noticed it made me lose my balance and at times I would fall. Another mistake I made was paddling way past my feet and all it did was get me tired. In addition, I noticed it did not get me further. When researching this project I found a great article that explains on how to remain balanced when the waves are hitting your board. "One of the most common problems is when paddlers fight the roll of the water. Keeping your body stiff will put you into the water faster, being relaxed will make your paddling experience easier. The ocean is going to constantly move the board beneath you, so why fight it? You must keep your balance in your core, allowing your legs to absorb the roll and rock from the ocean much like the shocks on a bicycle. And move your feet! Being comfortable wiggling those toes will make you more stable and present." |
